When the translator kills himself

Dear Colleagues

When a translator is unable to translate is a problem. When this same translator pretends to be a professional translator is a catastrophe with the following consequences:

He/she will try to prove to people that he/she is performing a good job. This will have either of the following consequences: 1- if the recipients of the translation are knowledgeable they will consider ALL TRANSLATORS in the given country as INCOMPETENT TRANSLATORS. Or 2- if the recipients of the translation are not that knowledgeable, they will deem the poor translation (which let us say costs one US dollar per 200 words) as similar to the one given by a professional translator (at a cost of so to speak 15 US dollars), which means professional translators will be redundant, while poor translators will gain a lot. The result in either case is a recession in the translation profession.

So, should the pretentious translators be kicked out from the translation market?

إنَّ المترجمَ حينما يلِجُ بحرَ الترجمةِ, فإنه وَ لا شكَّ عليه أنْ يُدرِكَ حقيقةَ أنه مُقبِلٌ على أمرٍ جسيمٍ قد لا تُحمدُ عواقِبُه. وَ على طريقِ الترجمةِ, يحتَّمُ عليه الأمرُ أن يتسلَّحَ بقدْرٍ من العلمِ الدينىَّ, الذى هو بمثابةِ المنارةِ التى تضىءُ له الطريقَ, إنْ كانَ يبحثُ عن الحقَّ. فإذا تخبَّطَ المترجِمُ فى بدايةِ الدخولِ إلى عالمِ الترجمةِ, ضلَ طريقَه إلى غيرِ رجْعةٍ. لذا فإنَّ المترجِمينَ قد انقسموا إلى فِرَقٍ: فرقةٍ تُدرِكُ أنَّ للعلمِ رسالةً, وَ أنَّ رسالةَ المترجِمِ هى فى مضْمونِها تبنِىَ وَ لا تهدِمُ، فى حين تتخِذُ الفِرقةُ الآخرى العلِمَ سِتاراً يتخفَّونَ وراءَه، فلا تراهُم إلا وَ قد ترجَموا أعمالاً لا طائِلَ من تحتِها إلا جنْىَ السيئاتِ. حتى يصيرَ هؤلاءِ المترجِمونَ فِرقةً ضالَّةً مُضِلَّةً يترجمونَ أفلاماً و مسلسلاتٍ وَ رواياتٍ خليعةً تهدمُ الأخلاقَ من جذورِها. فهُم وَ لا شكَّ معاوِلُ هدْمٍ فى بُنيانِ مجتمعٍ لا يكادُ ينهضُ حتى يكْبوَ فى انحطاطِهِ وَ تخلُّفِه. ألا ترى أخىَ المسلمَ أنَّ بناءً لا يقومُ لهادِمٍ, فكيفَ بِبانٍ خلفه ألفُ هادِمٍ. ستسيرُ فُلكُ الحقَّ تحمِلُ جُندَه ... وَ ستنتهِىَ للشاطىءِ المأمولِ.
